IMPROVING OUR ENVIRONMENT (WITH SOME HIGHLY-PLACED HELP)
cf
Psalm 104:30

Truth cannot impose itself except by virtue of its own truth, as it wins over the mind with both gentleness and power (
Tertio Millennio Adveniente, element 35)
- "
The limitation (cf Genesis 2:16-17) imposed from the beginning by the Creator Himself...shows clearly enough that, when it comes to the natural world, we are subject not only to biological laws, but also to moral ones, which cannot be violated with impunity" (Evangelium Vitae, element 42)
In addition to the destruction of the natural environment, of more serious concern, perhaps, is the destruction of the human environment, particularly, of the moral conditions necessary in fostering an authentic "human ecology." (Centesimus Annus, element 38)
"A person must therefore respect the natural and moral structure with which he has been endowed" (Centesimus Annus, element 38)
A large part of an appropriately-directed concern for the environment necessarily concerns appropriately-directed efforts toward an authentic human development
Authentic human development, however, "does not derive from money, material assistance, or technological means, but from the formation of consciences and the gradual maturing of ways of thinking and patterns of behavior" (Redemptoris Missio, element 58)
Such consciences must be formed in Truth---the Truth which the Church proclaims "about Christ, about Herself, and about Man" (Sollicitudo Rei Socialis, element 41)
"The Magisterium of the Pastors of the Church in moral matters is ordinarily exercised in catechesis and preaching....Alongside the Creed and the Our Father, the basis for this Catechesis has traditionally been the [TEN COMMANDMENTS], which set out the principles of moral life valid for all…." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, element 2033)
In order, therefore, that such moral formation be achieved, the "principles of moral life valid for all…." must be taught clearly, completely, and free from error and ambiguity (cf Matthew 5:37;Ad Tuendam Fidem)
To do otherwise will result in the following:
- A person’s decisions and actions will not be based on Divine Truth
- The resultant personal, individual sins, in conjunction with, as a cause of, or as a consequence of other individual/personal sins, will continue to propagate various "structures of sin" (
Catechism of the Catholic Church, element 1869; Reconciliatio Paenitentia, element 16), and these "incarnated" structures will in turn more boldly widen the path (Matthew 7:13) to destruction for individuals
Our whole society, ultimately functioning under unjust laws and untruthful operating principles in business and government, will suffer great harm (it already has, actually)
Ultimately, as lies and untruth (click HERE for further edification) spread, a Famine for the hearing [and the correct interpretation (2 Peter 1:20-21; 3:16; Acts 8:30-31) and application, as facilitated by effective Catechesis] of the Word of God (Amos 8:11) will more than likely result in a famine of bread, wars, and at the very least continued environmental degradation [to name only a few evils (Revelation Ch. 6], because everything will be based on Untruth, which only leads to DEATH---both physical and, most importantly, spiritual.
If in any way the training and other preparation provided by your (Arch)Diocese or Parish, and/or the teaching materials offered therefrom, leave you feeling ill-equipped in teaching the Truth about God and Man [as proposed by the One, Holy Catholic, and Apostolic Church as an ‘expert in humanity’

Some "Final" Thoughts….
*
I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6)
*
I AM the Light of the World (John 8:12)
*
And it shall come to pass…that I will cause the sun to go down at mid-day, and I will darken the earth in broad daylight (Amos 8:9)
*
The days are coming when I will send a famine on the land: Not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the Words of the Lord (Amos 8:11)
* If the prospect of an unexplained "eclipse" of the SUN is terrifying enough, how much more terrifying will an "eclipse" of the SON (the ‘Light of the World’) be once Truth, Justice and Mercy is "eclipsed," and a famine for the hearing of the Word, and ultimately a Famine for the Word Incarnate in the Eucharist, befalls us (cf Daniel 9:27;Matthew ch 24)??? WHY take that CHANCE by TOLERATING INADEQUATE or FAULTY CATECHESIS??? HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO BE PRO-ACTIVE IN IMPROVING OUR ENVIRONMENT
