THE GOVERNMENT WHOSE MAIN "OFFICES" ARE IN HEAVEN

  1. Will Joseph, in working with Jesus as they did together in Nazareth, perhaps be the Great Monarch so many Catholic prophecies have foretold through the ages? OR, will Joseph perhaps function in a more glorious manner than before, as the Prime Minister to Christ the King, as the Old Testament Joseph was a "father" to Pharaoh and ruler of the land? It is worth evaluating just how such a "Great Monarch" will come to rule the world. After all, the Hebrews longed for the coming of the Messiah, and also a strong king [even when warned against getting what they had asked for (cf 1 Samuel Ch. 8)]. Furthermore, just as Jesus was not exactly their idea of what the ultimate temporal ruler would be like, it is quite possible that this Great Monarch may not be exactly many a Christian's idea of what the ultimate temporal ruler will be like. We might thus be better off if we (and all our earthly governments and authorities) recognized God as our rightful King, along with His Heavenly Household and "offices" (cf Revelation 20:4).
  2. Just as the Old Testament Joseph's brothers were shocked when they realized that Pharaoh's Prime Minister was their long-forgotten brother, many Christians, having forgotten or never realized that the one who has interceded for them from the beginning is the apparently silent Joseph of Nazareth, may be just as surprised.
  3. Even more surprisingly for Christians is the possibility that the as-yet non-Christians throughout the world who eventually come to the Truth may come to know all three members of the Holy Family the way they really are, just as Egypt recognized the gift of the Old Testament Joseph before his brothers did, and the "pagan" Egypt likewise was the safe haven sought by Joseph of Nazareth when Herod sought to kill Jesus. In both cases, it was God's will that the "world"/Egypt be the place of exile for a while, as well as a place of refuge (Revelation 12:6, 13-18). What has happened before, more than likely will happen again in some manner.
  4. Just as Pharaoh and Egypt came to know Joseph's wisdom, which came from God (cf Genesis 40:8; 41:16), the Queen of the South (ie, the "Queen of Sheba"), in hearing of Solomon's wisdom, which likewise came from God, came to behold such wisdom and the Temple of Yahweh.
  5. In a similar manner, the non-Christian world, at some point, may likewise recognize the wisdom of the One True and Living God as indeed being wisdom which is not of this world, and perhaps recognize, through Mary and Joseph's intercession, Jesus as He Truly IS. **
  6. It is likewise possible that, as predicted by Jesus, an evil and unfaithful generation of Christians, in seeking a sign, may be astounded, if not "scandalized," to see all people of good will from the rest of the non-Christian world coming to the source of Truth (cf Matthew 12:38-42). It will nevertheless be a true gift to the world, as Mary and Joseph once again take Jesus to "Egypt," even as their own "people" seek to "kill" Him, be it either through collusion or negligence.

** NOTE **

One of the more profound examples of this in our time may have occurred recently, when Mother Teresa of Calcutta was given a military/state funeral by the government of a country that is predominantly non-Christian. Even Mother Teresa herself, in her self-effacing manner, would be the first to say that the honor accorded to her in that regard was actually that given to honor God, His Son, and the entire Royal Household of Heaven since any of her works and wisdom imparted to her Order and the people of India and the world in general, if done in "Spirit and in Truth" (cf John 4:21-24) would have had to have come from Them, and Them alone. At least in some small way, the government and people of India, by honoring Mother Teresa in this manner, were giving an ultimate honor to her "Boss(es)" in Heaven in the same way that Pharaoh recognized the wisdom of the Old Testament Joseph (and the Source of that Wisdom), and as Nebuchadnezzar finally came to recognize the Wisdom from above (cf Book of Daniel). No pun intended, but while watching the procession on TV, I truly wished someone could have gone ahead of it crying out "Abrek!" in some form.
