Using the Woman on Top Position to Get Pregnant
Woman-on-top has been steadily becoming the love making position of choice for married couples. This is primarily due to the improved chances for the woman to reach orgasm because in this position her husband can maintain his arousal for a longer period of time prior to ejaculating, hence providing a superior opportunity for them to spend some quality time "together" while both are free to use their hands to tenderly and lovingly caress one another.
There remains this recurrent notion, however, that the woman-on-top sexual position is not conducive for getting pregnant due to the alleged effects of gravity on the semen’s ability to remain in the womb. In reality, the woman-on-top position is an ideal way for a woman to conceive, especially when in conjunction with a woman's improved chances at being aroused when ovulating. Both spouses will tend more to be relaxed and enjoy the process, and a growing body of evidence suggests that conception is best facilitated when spouses make love in the customary manner (woman-on-top progressively being the position of choice and hence habit). Furthermore, in the woman-on-top position, the mouth of the womb tends to droop down toward and hence closer to the glans of the penis, according to Van de Velde in the decades-old classic "Ideal Marriage"---see NOTE 1 below); consequently, it apparently places itself in a better position to receive the sperm, and this is further helped by an increase in cervical mucous, such as happens when a woman is sufficiently aroused in conjunction with her time of ovulation. The man's ejaculation also helps to counteract the force of gravity (which can be an issue when conception is attempted in the woman-on-top position), and the mouth of the womb, by drooping down to "caress" the glans, actually takes advantage of the effects of gravity when in the woman-on-top position and hence provides the kind of deep penetration that is recommended in some quarters for facilitating conception. The sperm, in being more quickly received into the mouth of the womb, will therefore have considerably less distance to travel before coagulating onto the cervix. The motion of the mouth of the womb against the glans can also help to facilitate a slow, gradual, but highly stimulating response for both spouses leading up to the man's ejaculation (which reportedly can at times help trigger his wife's orgasm at the moment of his ejaculation), hence further facilitating conception (at least according to some research that suggests that a woman's orgasm helps to draw or "upsuck" the sperm into the womb---see NOTE 2 below.
NOTE 2
It is therefore worth remembering that a man’s ejaculation serves a very practical function, in addition to providing pleasure. The force of the ejaculation, followed by quick coagulation onto the cervix, allows the semen to easily counteract any effects of gravity. It is almost as if God, in intending the marital act---and thus getting pregnant---to occur with the woman on top, specifically designed a man’s response (ie, ejaculation) to occur so that any effects of gravity would be effectively counteracted. This would not be the case if God intended for the man’s substance to be merely "poured" into a woman’s "garden," in which case the "missionary" or rear-entry positions would be the only licit positions. Most providentially, this isn’t the case. Since the woman-on-top position is the only sexual position that can guarantee "effective" results (ie, the mutual pleasure of both spouses) on a consistent basis, it means that it better insures that spouses will "commune" with one another on a more frequent and prolonged basis. The increased duration and frequency facilitated by the woman-on-top position thus ensures that both the unitive and procreative functions of the marital act are met. The increased frequency would also counteract any possible effects of gravity (as discussed previously), as does the fact that there are literally millions of sperm in a man's ejaculate-----and to think that it only takes one: a very special one known only by and chosen by our Heavenly Father (cf
They say that half the fun is in getting there. In this case, the following survey -----albeit non-scientific-----also seems to suggest that it is perfectly feasible to do so with the woman securely (and happily) in the saddle (cf Pony, by Ginuwine)
Summary of Results as of October, 2011
Of those answering the survey, slightly more than 40% use WOT as the primary sexual position, and roughly 1/4 use WOT exclusively. Only 22% report never using WOT. Of the 78% that use it at least occasionally if not usually, 57% report having gotten pregnant with it at least once and in many case numerous times. The final proof of the efficacy of woman on top in getting pregnant is the fact that of those that used WOT in order to conceive, 51% reported getting pregnant within the first 1 to 2 months, and 32% in fact got pregnant on the first attempt when using WOT.
Your response to the following survey will go a long way toward reassuring many couples who fear they may be doing something wrong.
